Hello. This is the final story (Nov 1 - Nov 2) of the 4-night, 6-day Thailand Khao Yai golf fam tour. The last day in Khao Yai has dawned. Today's schedule is to finish our morning round, have lunch at a Michelin-starred restaurant, then move to Bangkok to return to Korea.
II. The Final Journey: Golf, Gastronomy, and Goodbye
A. Goodbye Khao Yai: The Final Round at 'Kirimaya CC' (Kirimaya Golf Course)
At 6:00 AM, we had breakfast (ABF) at the hotel and checked out immediately. Leaving behind the Fortune Courtyard Hotel we had grown fond of over 4 days, we headed to our final golf destination, 'Kirimaya Golf Course'. (08:00 AM Tee-off)
Kirimaya CC is famous for its championship course designed by Jack Nicklaus. True to its reputation, the course layout itself was excellent.
However, perhaps because it was the off-season and had rained frequently when we visited, the fairway management was poor, and the drainage was not smooth.
It was somewhat uncomfortable for enjoying golf, and our group generally rated it as being on a similar level to 'Bonanza CC'.
Thanks to its nature-friendly design, the feeling of playing with the magnificent mountains of Khao Yai National Park as a backdrop was superb. During our 4-night, 6-day journey, we experienced 5 golf courses (Bonanza, Rancho Charnvee, Khao Yai CC, Toscana Valley, and Kirimaya), and this was a course that left a bit to be desired in terms of course management to mark the finale.
B. Second Michelin Lunch: Krua Kampan (Krua Kampan Restaurant)
After finishing our regrettable final round, we moved to 'Krua Kampan Restaurant' for our last lunch before heading back to Bangkok.
This place, following 'Pen Lao' yesterday, is also a famed restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide.
You could feel the 'famous restaurant vibe' from the atmosphere, which was packed with locals. Specializing in traditional Thai cuisine, the dishes were impressive with their deep flavors that weren't overly strong. We were happy to conclude our last meal in Khao Yai at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
C. To Bangkok, and The Last Supper (MK LIVE)
After lunch, we drove for about 3 hours to 'Megabangna', a large shopping mall near Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Before heading to the airport, we had our last dinner in Thailand at 'MK LIVE' located here.
MK LIVE is the premium brand of the famous Thai suki franchise, MK, where we enjoyed delicious shabu-shabu with fresh ingredients.
D. The Flight Home, and the Aftermath of Khao Yai
After dinner, we moved to the airport and went through departure procedures. Rain started to fall just as we were finishing our last hole, and after seeming to stop briefly in Bangkok, it began to pour again. Due to this heavy rain, our Thai Airways flight TG658, originally scheduled for 11:10 PM, was delayed and departed at almost 12:00 AM.
Carrying the wonderful memories of 4 nights and 6 days, we dozed off on the plane, and at 6:35 AM the next day (Nov 2), we arrived at Incheon International Airport.
III. Conclusion and 4N/6D Final Review
And just like that, the 4-night, 6-day Thailand Khao Yai fam tour with 13 people came to an end. True to its nickname 'The Switzerland of Thailand', Khao Yai was a charming destination where one could enjoy golf, relaxation, and gastronomy in a cool, pleasant natural setting, unlike the just-hot Southeast Asia I expected.
Rounds at 5 unique golf courses (a total of 90 holes), the memory of a shot eagle, two Michelin-starred restaurants, and a comfortable massage. I have introduced this perfect trip over 5 posts.
